11 Things to do in Boise with Kids

As any parent can attest, it can be difficult to keep your kids entertained and find new and fun things for them to do. Here are 11 places to go in the Boise area sure to keep your children busy for the day:

Ivywild Pool

Located in an 18-acre park, this outdoor pool is designed for children of all ages. The main pool features a pretzel slide and two additional drop-off slides for more advanced swimmers, while the wading pool has a zero-depth entry and a variety of play equipment. You can find Ivywild Pool off Broadway Avenue near Timberline High School.

Zoo Boise 

Boise’s Downtown zoo is a great way to entertain your children for an hour or two. From lions to the recently added baboons, your kids will be able to see and learn about a wide variety of animals. Zoo Boise also hosts special events and features a café and a carousel. 

Roaring Springs Waterpark

Looking to beat the heat? Roaring Springs Waterpark located off Overland Road in Meridian is a great way for the whole family to relax and cool down while enjoying some fun water slides. The park has attractions designed for children of all ages, including family rides.

Wahooz Family Fun Zone

Next door to Roaring Springs, you’ll find Wahooz Family Fun Zone. This Adventure Park boasts 17 indoor and outdoor attractions like amusement rides, bumper cars, laser tag, mini golf, and much more to keep the whole family busy. 

Aquarium of Boise

Boise’s Aquarium can be found at the corner of Cole and Franklin and houses over 250 species of marine life. With exhibits from sharks to tide pools, your children can learn about ocean life and experience it firsthand. 

Planet Kid

The Wings Center’s Planet Kid Indoor Soft Playground is great way for your kids to enjoy safe physical play and expend some of that boundless energy. The Playground contains a broad range of equipment allowing children 12 and younger to climb, swing, slide and more without you having to worry about hard concrete or hot metal. You can find Planet Kid off Cole across from Costco. 

The Sensory Playce

The Sensory Playce is a play center designed with the health and development of younger children in mind. With toys and equipment for fine motor activities and specialized swings and climbing structures, The Sensory Playce is both fun and formative—they even feature a quiet room for children becoming over stimulated or dysregulated. The Sensory Playce is located off Overland near Walmart. 

Children’s Museum of Idaho

The Children’s Museum of Idaho is a safe play environment designed for children 2-8 years old. Featuring hands-on exhibits that allow you to engage with your child while they learn and have fun, the Museum provides unique opportunities for education and play. Off the highway, take the Meridian Road exit and the Children’s Museum will be on your right. 

Natatorium Pool and Hydrotube

Located off Warm Springs Avenue near the Botanical Gardens, the Natatorium Pool and Hydrotube consists of a large pool with a maximum depth of 12 feet and a tall waterslide for adventurous swimmers. Your whole family can play and enjoy the water during the Natatorium’s open season. 

Altitude Trampoline Park

Having a hard time keeping your kids from jumping on the furniture? Take them to Boise’s Altitude Trampoline Park. Your kids can enjoy wall-to-wall trampolines, a dedicated court for younger children, and games like dodgeball and basketball. You can find Altitude off Milwaukee between Fairview and Emerald.  

The Discovery Center of Idaho

The Discovery Center in Downtown Boise provides interactive exhibits that will keep your children engaged and learning for an afternoon. With a focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, Discovery Center of Idaho lets children explore new concepts and discover how the world works. For younger children, they also provide a safe play space with toys for developing young minds and motor skills.
